The Startup Visa Program Explained

The Startup Visa program aims to make it easier for entrepreneurs residing in the United States to stay and grow their businesses. This is one of nine “startup visas” available to those who have received a U.S. business residence or temporary visitor visas, such as an L-1 visa, F-1 visa, or a B-1 visa, but want to start a company that could benefit from being based in the U.S. Keep reading the article for more details about this program and other similar ones.

What Is The Startup Visa Program?

The Startup visa program aims to make it easier for entrepreneurs residing in the United States to stay and grow their businesses. This is one of nine “startup visas” available to those who have received a U.S. business residence or temporary visitor visas, such as an L-1 visa, F-1 visa, or a B-1 visa, but want to start a company that could benefit from being based in the U.S.

The program allows entrepreneurs to apply for a special type of visa that will let them stay in the U.S. for up to three years to start their own business. The visa is called the U.S. Business Founder and Investor (BFII) visa.

Proof Of Funding Requirement

The federal government requires that all applicants for the startup visa program have proof of funding. If you are funding your venture with personal savings or investments, you don’t need to submit this proof of funding. However, if you are funding your business with outside investment, you must provide evidence of this funding.

n most cases, this means you must submit documentation showing that you have received your investment. For example, if you have raised $100,000 from investors and your business plan states that your revenue will be $1 million in the first year, you must submit financial documentation showing that the $100,000 has been deposited into your business account.

However, you do not need to show that the money has been deposited into your account specifically to fund your visa application.

The Benefits Of Joining A Startup

There are many benefits to joining a startup while on the startup visa program. The best part is that you can apply for a visa before you start your job at the startup. This means you can start your visa application process while you are still in your home country.

The application process for the startup visa program can be lengthy and complicated. If you don’t have the financial means or technical knowledge to navigate the process on your own, you may want to consider hiring an immigration attorney or consultant to help you navigate the application requirements.

If you join a startup while on the startup visa program, you will have the opportunity to apply for the program even if you don’t currently reside in the United States. Once you are approved for the program, you will be allowed to live and work in the United States for up to three years under the supervision of a qualified agent (i.e., an immigration attorney or consultant) who will be responsible for guiding you through the process.

If your visa expires before you have applied for a green card, you will be allowed to remain in the United States while you wait for your green card application to be approved.
